Food Poisoning
On June 19, 2009 The U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) and The U.S. Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) warned consumers to not eat Nestle Toll House Prepackaged, Refrigerated Cookie Dough due to the risk of contamination with E. coli O157:H7.
If you or someone you know has been tested positive for E. coli food poisoning after consuming Nestle Toll House Cookie Dough, you should contact us immediately. You may be entitled to compensation by filing a food poisoning lawsuit and we can help.
Nestle Toll House Cookie Dough E. Coli Outbreak Statistics
The warning and subsequent recall of Nestle Toll House Cookie Dough is based on an ongoing epidemiological study conducted by the CDC and several state and local health departments. Since March 2009 there have been 66 reports of illness across 28 states. Twenty-five persons were hospitalized; 7 with a severe complication called Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome (HUS). No one has died.
Signs & Symptoms of E. Coli Food Poisoning
E. coli O157:H7 causes abdominal cramping, vomiting and a diarrheal illness, often with bloody stools. Most healthy adults can recover completely within a week. Young children and the elderly are at highest risk for developing HUS, which can lead to serious kidney damage and even death.
Recommendations From The FDA
The FDA advises that if consumers have any prepackaged, refrigerated Nestle Toll House cookie dough products in their home that they throw them away.

On April 6, 2009, the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) in association with Setton Pistachio of Terra Bella, Inc. expanded the prior pistachio recall to include the entire 2008 pistachio crop due to potential Salmonella contamination.
Pistachio Induced Salmonella Symptoms & Dangers
Salmonella can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.

What should I do with the recalled product(s)?
The FDA is advising, “Consumers are advised not to eat products that have been recalled and to throw them away in a manner that prevents others from eating them.” However, if you or somebody you know has gotten sick from eating the recalled peanut butter or peanut containing products, you may want to put them in a safe place (where children or other persons do not confuse them as being safe to eat) if you’re planning to have your potential peanut butter food poisoning case evaluated by an Injury Help Network law firm.
