DEWALT DC608 Cordless Nail Gun Recall

On August 5, 2008, The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission in association with DEWALT Industrial Tool Co., of Towson, Md. announced a nationwide recall of the DEWALT DC608 Cordless Brad Nailers.

What’s the problem?

According to the CPSC recall announcement, the nailer can operate when the lock-off (safety) is in the locked position. Also, the nailer can operate when the trigger is not pulled and the contact trip is depressed. The unexpected ejection of a nail poses a serious injury hazard to consumers. DeWALT has received two reports of nailers operating when the lock-off (safety) was in the locked position. No injuries have been reported.

DEWALT DC608 Cordless Brad Nailers Model Numbers Subject to Recall

The recall effects approximately 14,000 units of the DEWALT DC608 Cordless Brad Nailers, which were sold at Wholesale distributors and retailers from October 2007 through May 2008 for about $280.
